Lifedance summer Intensive workshop
LIFEDANCE Summer Intensive Workshop 2008
AUGUST 18-22
At Panetta Movement Center
214 West 29th Street, 10th Floor
New York City
This one week workshop offers intensive study of modern dance technique and composition.
Technique class includes floor, center and traveling movement with emphasis on dynamic alignment, pelvic integration,
phrasing and musicality.
Composition relies on the twin arts of "letting it happen" and "pinning it down" -- movement invention and structure (time, space,
dynamics, vocabulary and movement invention) focussed around an image or intention. We will ask questions like: is my intention coming through in my movement? Am I saying what I "mean"? Does it matter? What is the relationship of intentionality and spontaneity? How can I form my movement to get closer to my intention? What do I need to let go of? Do more of? Please bring your images and intentions!
